Hi, all! Please note that this month's Birder Patrol trip is the THIRD Saturday, not the fourth! We want to hit the feeders at Salineno before they close for the summer on the 22nd! In addition to Salineno, we'll be checking out the Dump Road and Falcon Parks for desert-type species and anything else that may be around. Potential targets include Scaled Quail, Audubon's Oriole, Black-throated Sparrow, and other desert birds. Red-billed Pigeons have been reported at Salineno lately, and there's an unconfirmed report of a Bendire's Thrasher at Falcon. Other long shots include Muscovy Duck and Black-tailed Gnatcatcher. Meet at the Whataburger in La Joya at 6:30. Those in the Harlingen area can meet at the Texas Travel Center at 5:15 to carpool. At this time there's a 40% chance of rain in the Falcon area on Saturday; if it increases to over 50% the trip will be canceled. Cost is $5.00 per person, and all proceeds go to the educational programs of the Arroyo Colorado Audubon Society. See you there!
