Observed this afternoon at South Llano River State Park at Junction (Lora's
Birdblind) by Sandy Dillard and group visiting park. Golden-cheeked Warblers
have been here since Mar 13 in expected location between Deer Blinds #7-10.
On another note the Junction Wastewater Facility (ebird hotspot) entrance
policy has changed. Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requires
that gates into the area proper be locked when no city personnel are present.
This does not include the main road in off of FM 2169 as that road is owned by
a construction company behind the Facility. "No Trespassing" and "No
Unauthorized Person" signs have been put up on the gates that would allow
birders to drive in and bird the individual ponds. The fence "walk-over" has
also been removed. I have been in conversation with both the City of Junction
and TCEQ San Angelo office(since January) and at present I (and two other
locals) are allowed in and anyone can go in with us. So it is possible for
arrangements to be made if we are available.
