Hi Texbirders and Pelagic Fanatics,
Even though South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley is in the grips of 100+
degree temps, what you may not realize is that Offshore on the Gulf the
air temperatures are always in the 80's and only vary between 82 to 89 all
day and night long this week. The moderating effect of the relatively
cooler sea waters and the sea breeze can make it relatively comfortably
offshore and certainly when compared to the temps inland.

This Saturday's trip still has plenty of room and looks to be sailing in
2-3 or 4 foot seas according to the forecast. August is a great time to be
offshore for all the regular Texas Pelagic Species and even has a chance to
find a rarity. In fact what you may not realize is that 50% of all Texas
Pelagics ever run in August have found at least 1 Texas Review Species.

Also if you thinking of chasing the Collared Plover this weekend why not
combine your trip with a Texas Pelagic. All information about how to
prepare for a Texas Pelagic is on the website www.TexasPelagics,com . If
you'd like to join us email me and you can sign-up and pay at the dock at
5:30am Saturday morning.
Good seabirding,
