*************************************************************************************************************
Have been catching a Black Vulture on critter cams occasionally this
spring...Something I have never had before...One seems to hang around and I
figured that it was wanting to eat the chopped hot dogs I put out for the
crow.
When I got home it was sitting in an oak at the edge of the yard and did
not fly even when I walked into the house. So I am taking off the boots
from my weary feet and suddenly see it drop to the ground to a big oak that
fell over earlier in the year. What the...? I figured maybe something
had died so walked over to look....It did not flush and there was no sign
of her and I had been watching the area carefully. Then I knew...The big
oak is hollow and laying on the ground and sure enough at the base of the
broken trunk there is a down feather caught on the edge
That wench is in that log nesting!...I have been here a whole week today
and had zero clue even though that tree is only about 25 yards from the
front door! She had picked it as a nest site while I was away...I should
have guessed. Stuff like this on my property usually does not get past
me. wow.
