Greetings All:
At about 8:30 this morning an out-of-town birder located at least one of
the Common Cranes in a field northwest of the intersection of FM 1076 and
Highway 168 - less than a mile west of Highway 168 and best viewed from FM
1076. By the time I got there, with another birder on my tail, three other
birders had shown up - six of us watched the bird for roughly a half hour
and attempted (who knows, given the distances involved, if any of us were
successful) to get some pictures. There was a lot of movement amongst the
flock and at one point a Common Crane popped up well left of where we had
just pinned one down - with nobody seeing the bird move that distance - so
there is a possibility that there are still two birds present.
If I got any pictures worth sharing, they will show up in eBird when I get
around to posting the data from my trips of the last week or so.
