Well, the past weeks weather was right on schedule with the forecast. Unfortunately the lack of rain/thunderstorms associated with the cold front prevented it from causing a good increase of migrants at the coast although it did cause a modest uptick farther inland. Looking ahead into the next few days that should definitely be changing. Coastal/Gulf Weather through Wednesday: Active weather on the way Friday through Monday. A cold front will move off the TX coast tomorrow morning accompanied by a few showers and thunderstorms. Enhanced northerly winds are expected in its wake over the northwestern Gulf. The front will stall over the central Gulf Friday night and then lift northward as a warm front on Saturday and Sunday. That will spread rain and a few thunderstorms across much of coastal Texas and the northwestern Gulf. Low pressure will develop near Galveston Sunday evening and then head NE Sunday night. The associated cold front will then move off the coast by early Monday.A reinforcing cold front is expected Tuesday (no rain) with enhanced northerly winds continuing across the Gulf through Wednesday as high pressure builds from the northwest. Southerly winds then return Thursday as high pressure moves off the east of the region. Coastal "Bird Forecast": Considering the above forecast of increased rain chances and northerly winds along with the time of year there will be a greatly improved chance for migrants (and possibly good numbers of migrants at times) to stop at the coastal sites beginning around midday tomorrow and continuing through Wednesday. At the very least conditions will become much less favorable for them to continue well inland before stopping to rest/feed.
