On 1289 between Pt. Lavaca and Pt O'Connor on rice fields there was an
incredibly large flock(s) of blackbirds, my raw estimate was perhaps
between 300-400,000+ birds. There were at least 9-10 Yellow-headed
Blackbirds in the mix easily detected by their white wing patches and there
were likely way more...No telling how many non-adult males. At one point
something flushed everything and they and all the blackbird species became
a school of fish in the sky...A dark cloud of churning birds
Also saw a flock of flyby plegadis ibis numbering at least 180-200 near
Colomo Creek on 1289 and a few Canvasbacks. 3 White-tailed Hawks on 185
toward POCO
