Hi Texbirders and Pelagic Fanatics,
It's down to the wire for this Sunday's Nov 13th Texas Pelagic to chase the
BCPE. I've had a few people sign up this morning and I'm up to 17 total but
we are still 5 people shy of the 22 we need to keep the fare at less than
$400 / person. I was hoping for 30 people and a $300 fare / person but that
just seems impossible at this late hour.
But the good news is I already have about 21 people who said they can go on
Sunday Nov. 20th. So I'm confident I can make that date work. Look here is
the deal for this trip: Everyone is paying to go, me and the leaders
included. We are splitting the charter cost + tips evenly amoung everyone.
With 21 people that comes out to about $410 / person. If more people sign up
and I hope (bet) some will, then the fare continues to fall. With 30 people
its $300 / person. The maximum the boat can take is 40.
Plus keep in mind that hotels are much cheaper by more than 70 % in Port
Aransas now than they were back over the summer. And you don't have to drive
all the way to South Padre Island. You'll definitely save more money on
hotels and gas than the extra amount you'll be paying for this extra-long
Texas Pelagic adventure. For instance I stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites
for the July 23rd Texas Pelagic at $279/night + tax. For Nov 19-21 it is
only $80/night a savings of over $400 (incl taxes) for 2 nights. The Super 8
in Aransas Pass is only $60/ night for this weekend.
Remember this is an 18 hour trip. We will have a full day 10+ hours in deep
waters to search for seabirds. Our 12 hour trips only get 4 hours in deep
water. 16 hour trips get about 8 hours off the shelf in pelagic depth
waters. I've already talked about the exciting seabird possibilities in
previous posts so I won't repeat that all here. Please look up my two

The plan for this trip is to depart at 3:00 AM and return at 9:00 PM. More

requesting everyone who sign's up to make a $350 deposit in advance to help
me pay for this trip. I have to shell out the cash the day before. Any
difference in the final fare can be settled at the dock.
