Birded Shipp Lake and Richards Riverbend Park near Smithville, TX this
morning. The southern end of the lake still had some water. The part north
of the railroad tracks was covered in green vegetation but no standing
water.
A good morning for waders and other shorebirds. White Ibis, Snowies,
Tricolored Herons and Little Blues, Green Herons were abundant. There were
a few Roseated Spoonbills as well. One lone Yellow Crowned Night Heron
Stood on the far mud shore. Notable on the northern part were orioles-one
lone male Orchard and 3 immature Baltimore Orioles. 20 species.
