Quick reminder: the Birding Classic registration deadline is just a few days away on Monday, April 1st! It's easy to register online (www.birdingclassic.org) and your team registration fees go towards avian habitat conservation projects here in Texas! Independent teams can register for $20, $30, or $50 per person, depending on the tournament category, and sponsored teams range from $250-$1000, depending on the category. The more we raise, the more we can donate in birding grants! - Local Patch Challenge folks - you can do a Regional Big Day, Big Sit!, Human-Powered, or even the new Sunrise to Noon Tournament to scour your patch and add to your running list! - Want to explore a State Park? Sign up for the new State Park Tournament and bird the park of your choice for a full 24-hours. Make a camping trip out of it and really enjoy your time outside. - Have you always felt constrained by the regional one-days only being on the Coast? This year we've gone statewide so you can do a Regional Big Day right in your own region (http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/events/great-texas-birding-classic/tournament-categories-1/regional-tournament-map) or don't confine yourself to a single region, or even a single day for that matter, and give either the new Statewide Big Day Tournament or expanded 6-day long Statewide Weeklong Tournament a whirl this year! - You can find tips on how to tackle a Big Day or Weeklong event here (as well as tips on finding a sponsor or mentoring a youth team): http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/events/great-texas-birding-classic/tournament-advice. Including today, you have five more days to gather your team and submit your registration form - team registration deadline is Monday, April 1st. You choose your specific tournament day later based on your schedule, weather patterns, bird migration activity, etc., making sure your selected day falls from April 15-May 15 and emailing me within 24-hours of your date for my records. Please let me know if you have any questions - feel free to call or email me. I look forward to seeing some new teams join us this year! Come one Heart of Texas, Panhandle, Pineywoods, North Texas and West Texas - let's come out of the gate with some numbers during this first statewide year!
