TexBirders Bird sightings for January 4, 2015 The clouds parted on Sunday morning and although the sun was out, it was still a brisk, cold day. Nonetheless, we had good birds with a little patience and some work. Outstanding birds seen (photographed) most recently include: Broad-winged Hawk - juvenile perched along Resaca Vieja Trail (Mon Jan 6) Winter Wren - at entrance to Kiskadee Trail Black-headed Grosbeak - at Kiskadee Blind The Red-naped Sapsucker, last seen from Kingfisher Overlook, has not been reported since Friday, January 2nd. The feeding stations at the Nature Center, Green Jay Blind and Kiskadee Blind continue to be productive. Resaca Vieja Trail has been good, with some day roosting Common Pauraques being reported along with Broad-winged Hawk and bobcats. Kiskadee Trail has a Winter Wren and a Black-headed Grosbeak. Check out brush piles and grasses for a group of mixed sparrows and buntings along the Acacia Loop near the Paixtle Circle.
