Texbirders, After our morning bird survey at Travis Audubon's Baker Sanctuary in Cedar Park, Shelia and I drove down from Austin yesterday and were excited to find the BT Godwit at Brazoria NWR, 1/2 mile south of FM 2004 on CR 227. For those of you who have not gone yet, the Friends of Brazoria group had a blue EZ-Up awning at the location with two members of their group staffing it, handing out info and pointing out the godwit to all who came. By the time we arrived near 4:00, they figured they had shown it to some 200 or so people! It sure took the guesswork out of finding the correct location. Thanks Friends! This was our first visit to Brazoria but definitely won't be our last. That was a birdy place! We took the time to count the pond that contained the Godwit as well as the ponds across 227 and all the way to the "T" in the road and tallied right around 40 species. It was an enjoyable drive with a positive outcome. Laurie Foss Austin www.jbjourneys.com Adventure Travel to Central America and Beyond
