Correction, I was thinking Orange-breasted Falcon. I believe Bat Falcon
would be a tad small to take down a pigeon.

I saw this on Inaturalist and thought what! Actually long anticipated. I
saw one takedown a Short-billed Pigeon once so maybe it will find a nice
supply of White-winged Doves and hang tight.

Texbirds,
I am cross-posting a belated observation of a BAT FALCON at Santa Ana NWR
(Hidalgo Co.) on 8 Dec 2021. Found and documented by Rebecca Gelertner from
the Chachalaca Trail late in the day (5:12 PM). That time of day
information is key for a largely crepuscular predator such as this species.
As far as I am aware, this will be the first Texas and first U.S. record.
