The Aransas NWR Christmas Bird Count will be held on Wednesday, December 18,
2013 starting at the Refuge Visitor Center at 6:00 am. Last year the CBC had a
record number of Whooping Cranes, Merlins, and several other unique species.
Also observed was a Red-throated Loon and a Green-tailed Towhee. You never
know what could pop up at Aransas! The count will allow some of the
participants to enter sections of the refuge not generally open to the public.
