Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge to Closed on June 13th

Access to Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge (Refuge), will be closed to
the public for one day due, to safety hazards caused by invasive
species control activities. The Refuge staff will use management
tools that will require the Refuge to be closed to the public on June
13, 2012; and will reopen on June 14, 2012.

Refuge managers and Refuge biologists understand the risks that come
with invasive species control and want to remind the public that
invasive species can be harmful to native species, the environment, or
even human health.

To keep our native species communities safe from invasive species, the
public is encouraged to not introduce non-indigenous species of plants
and animals to the ecosystem.

For more information please contact Tami Schutter, (409) 267-3337.

The mission of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is to administer a
national network of lands and waters for the conservation and
management of the fish, wildlife, and plant resources and their
habitats of the United States for the benefit of present and future
generations.
