While I don't really have an opinion about the provenance of the Dallas
American Black Duck one way or another, I will point out that there have been
at least two individuals of this species found in Texas over the last 15 (?)
years that were strongly suspected of being escapees from private collections.
I have photos of a bird from Lubbock which conveniently had a unmarked band on
one of its legs.
