The Amazon Kingfisher was reported to have made appearances at 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. at the same Resaca where it was seen Monday. I got there at about 9:30 a.m., and it reappeared from about 10:30 to 11:30, across the Resaca, a little far away, but easily identifiable. It returned to the same perch several times after diving for fish, but never came to the closer dead tree perches where it had made previous appearances. Birders from North Carolina, Quebec and Iowa enjoyed the sighting. Since a cold front is due Thursday evening or Friday, it may be wise to try to see it tomorrow prior to the front. It may take the next jet stream back to Brazil.
