9-7-12 Mourning Warbler + 5 @ Warbler Woods Thanks to all our visitors today! I ended up with good numbers of warblers at the Scout Pond and Heron Pond early this morning--I pushed my start up to just before 7 a.m. After doing the rounds, I joined the others at the Warbler Pond. We ended up with Black-throated-green Warbler, Wilson's Warbler, Yellow Warbler, MOURNING WARBLER, Yellow-breasted Chat, Nashville Warbler, Long-billed Thrasher, Painted Bunting, Summer Tanager and other fun birds. We are looking forward to a cool front tomorrow and hopefully, we can decrease the temperature slightly to allow longer observation. We continue having a nightjar, but have yet to ID. Hope you don't miss songbird migration--every year, I have people venture out the end of September, expecting lots of warbler action. RATS--Mourning Warbler is in the Beauty Berry flowerbed and I'm a good distance away and my big camera is outside!! This is not fair--I rarely chase a bird out there, since I could land flat on my face, but a Mourning in the opening!!!! So, I took my little camera, binoculars and went to the patio to take the perfect shot--bird still there in the open and my camera clicks--battery dead!!!! So, I slink back inside and replace the battery and go back out, but no bird! I give up and am leaving the window, so that I don't get distracted again! I did get a picture earlier of the bird, but not great. Lot's of bird action outside, if you like 97 degrees and heat index of 96.5 with 38% humidity. btw, Black Witch Moth around lately Susan Schaezler WarblerWoods.org Cibolo/Schertz @SusanWarblerEdit your Freelists account settings for TEXBIRDS at //www.freelists.org/list/texbirds Reposting of traffic from TEXBIRDS is prohibited without seeking permission from the List Owner
