Hello Texbirders,
This coming *Saturday (3/26/16)* we are kicking off our 4th annual
*Edinburg Bird-a-thon*!
This is a birding competition for the whole family that will run through
the month of April *ending on May 2nd.* The competition will be followed by
an *Awards Ceremony on May 4th 6-7:30pm *(Snacks & Prizes)!
The winners of this competition will be the teams that see (or hear)
the most bird species within the Edinburg (Hidalgo Co.) area (a map of the
bird-a-thon boundaries will be provided) during the time span of the
competition.
Age divisions include:
Youth: 8-12yrs.
Teens: 12-17yrs.
Adults: 18 & up
Family/Mixed Group: 5yrs. & Up
This is a great and fun way to catch many of the migratory species coming
trough during the Spring migration!
The more teams that sign up the more fun the competition becomes!
We will have a bird walk to kick-off the competition this Saturday
from 8:30- 10:00am, followed by a "How to Read a Field Guide" presentation
that will get you ready for the fun!
