11-14-13 White-breasted Nuthatch @ Warbler Woods Bird Sanctuary Great birds today and we had John Robinson and friends visit and get wonderful birds. They had White-breasted Nuthatch, Golden-crowned Kinglet, Gray Catbird, Eastern Towhee, Song Sparrow. I can add Clay-colored Sparrows and lots of species of sparrows and had both Ravens and Crows. We have Lesly Torres and Alex here from the Valley, working as paid Interns for a week at Warbler Woods Bird Sanctuary . They are getting a lot of work done and preparing our fields for sparrow observation--we cut them like a checkerboard . We were overwhelmed with needed work here and are so Blessed to have them! The Texas State Wildlife Society will be here Saturday to plant the next Prairie Restoration and do other service projects here. Thanks to all! All my neighbors report Bobwhite returning to the area. Please remember Warbler Woods Bird Sanctuary with your donations, all the money goes back into maintaining Warbler Woods Bird Sanctuary and Don and I make up the difference. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We were blessed with donations of bird food from Thomas Seed company the first part of the year, which helps when we feed 25#/day, every day of the year. San Antonio Audubon, Twin Lakes Audubon and some generous individuals also help a lot. The new blind at the Scout Pond Dam will cost ~$1000. We have a cost-share grant for the Prairie Restoration, which is in its last year. Visiting is wonderful this time of year.
