Carlos,
Hay un excelente artículo sobre la historia de la fotometría de estrellas
que habla de la utilización de una estrella artificial variable, que se
utiliza para comparar la con las estrellas verdaderas. Es una técnica
utilizada desde 1930!
Aquí está el parágrafo del artículo que cita tu invento:
?Mitchell obtained a wedge photometer for the observatory when this work
began, which allowed an observer to measure the brightness of a star by
comparing it to an artificial "star" whose brightness could be varied until
it matched that of the actual star in the field.?
