Join Astronomers Without Borders in showing Saturn to as many people as possible. Saturn Mosaic Project<http://www.astronomerswithoutborders.org/index.php?option=com_acymailing&no_html=1&ctrl=url&urlid=581&mailid=90&subid=704> : AWB will be gathering photos of Saturn, not as big telescopes see it but as ordinary people do. Take a picture of Saturn as a "star" in the sky with an ordinary camera, capturing your surroundings as well. Photograph a public observing event that is part of AWB's Saturn observing program. Have your picture taken with Saturn. Then submit your photograph<http://www.astronomerswithoutborders.org/index.php?option=com_acymailing&no_html=1&ctrl=url&urlid=582&mailid=90&subid=704>to AWB gallery. We'll be putting all usable submissions to create a mosaic of Saturn as it will look in the new Cassini portrait -- a huge image composed of Saturn-related photos from around the world. Observe Saturn with AWB<http://www.astronomerswithoutborders.org/index.php?option=com_acymailing&no_html=1&ctrl=url&urlid=583&mailid=90&subid=704> : Do you remember the feeling you had the first time you saw the ringed planet through a telescope? Give others the same experience during this historic event! Create an event and take your telescope out with friends, family, or your local astronomy club. Even if you don't have a telescope you can still point Saturn out in the sky share what's happening and what you know about this amazing planet and the big event taking place. Register your event<http://www.astronomerswithoutborders.org/index.php?option=com_acymailing&no_html=1&ctrl=url&urlid=576&mailid=90&subid=704>so others know where to find you, and earn a personalized participation certificate to download and share when your event is over. Share your event photos and stories with others through a blog on the AWB site. Serene Universe DVD and GAM Hangout<http://www.astronomerswithoutborders.org/index.php?option=com_acymailing&no_html=1&ctrl=url&urlid=577&mailid=90&subid=704> [image: serene universe nl] During the Google hangout event organised for Global Astronomy Month 2013, the film ‘Serene Universe’ by filmmaker and planetary scientist Maarten Roos and composer William Zeitler, was screened. Prior to the screening, Maarten Ross explained how the film is an independent project which started in 2008. Back then he had found a DVD in a store with images of Irish landscapes accompanied by music and he had the idea of doing it with night images from space. He got to know William Zeitler and they started working on this project together. This year the process has been made easier for proposers and evaluators so submit your ideas for funding to Task Force 1: Universities and Research, Task Force 2: Children and Schools or Task Force 3: Public Outreach! If you would like to see examples of projects that were funded in last year's call, please have a look at the OAD website where you will find more information on projects being implemented this year. The available funding will be determined by the IAU Extended Development Oversight Committee and shall depend on the quality and relevance of the proposals received. This programme has the aim of stimulating astronomy projects at all levels including primary, secondary and tertiary education, science research and the public understanding of science. Deadline for submission of proposals is 23:59 UTC on 31 August 2013. *Connect With AWB* Twitter: http://twitter.com/awb_org<http://www.astronomerswithoutborders.org/index.php?option=com_acymailing&no_html=1&ctrl=url&urlid=35&mailid=90&subid=704> Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/astronomerswithoutborders<http://www.astronomerswithoutborders.org/index.php?option=com_acymailing&no_html=1&ctrl=url&urlid=36&mailid=90&subid=704> Google Plus: http://bit.ly/gplus_awb<http://www.astronomerswithoutborders.org/index.php?option=com_acymailing&no_html=1&ctrl=url&urlid=37&mailid=90&subid=704> Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/user/AstroWB<http://www.astronomerswithoutborders.org/index.php?option=com_acymailing&no_html=1&ctrl=url&urlid=38&mailid=90&subid=704> ------------------------------ You have received this mailing because you are a member of Astronomers Without Borders or have subscribed to its newsletter.
