They offer a subscription program instead of requiring a capital investment with prices that are dramatically lower than competitors. Chris Chase, President, is looking for a $500,000 capital investment to expand into this multi-billion-dollar market. He stresses Discernity's competitive advantage of lower pricing and quicker installation, due to their unique technical architecture and proprietary installation methodology. Customers pay Discernity a monthly fee on a 36-month contract. The customer has no upfront expenses or capital investment; do not have to buy equipment; and have no responsibility for maintenance or repairs. This business model is proven, with 25 customers on line and existing recurrent revenue of $168,000/year. With the investment, Chase expects to expand to three new cities within 8 months; hire resources for sales, installations and technical support; and develop the Value Added Reseller channel to generate additional growth; and continue research & development. Each market is predicted to become profitable in 18 months, and cash flow from operations will be used to expand into other markets by the beginning of the third year.
