-------- Original Message -------- Subject: RCA 61" hdtv P61310, DTV307GA, fans "kick" once, otherwise dead Date: Sat, 15 May 2004 11:06:13 -0400 From: Phil Bader <tjanphyl@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: techassist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx <techassist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> I checked the DMA Power supply board and the two 4700mfd caps .Caps tested OK. I noticed as I powered it on, looking inside in the back, as it would do the cycling, I saw an arc from up under the CRT area each cycle. opened the front panel where I could see the bottoms of the CRT necks and CRT boards. The CRT on my right had the neck hanging! I can see a black arc line around it at the bell where it appears to have arced until it burnt through the glass neck!. CRT is toast. Don't know what else. Question: Can I isolate this bad blue CRT by unplugging it's anode from the block, and unplug the CRT board, so I can power the set and see if the other two CRTs are OK, and I have HV,etc? What's the safest way? Will keep posted. PS: another tech advised on the DMA power supply (upright one above sweep) to just change caps C14113,C14115 (use# 250729), and diodes CR19710 and 13 with #234048. High failure rates, tho not my problem here. Phil Bader Philip Bader Jan Phyl TV Inc. (estab. 1976) 3420 Recker Hwy.
