Jeff,
Had a problem like that with an Emerson long time ago, came in with no
vert sweep. Replaced LA {burnt}and diode/ resistor to the fly. Still had no
sweep, with scope found no drive to the LA chip. Traced back to a Sanyo chip
got pin out and still no drive, replaced chip and that took care of the
problem.
