well, i found the problem! this is a first for me. the degaussing coil was pluged on to the 2 testpoints in error, but removed and corrected. same pin shape. but this should not have permanently damaged the set. the degause coil should have worked just like the intentional short, that is recommended. but, static charge from the coil zapped the xray protect transistor connected to the test point. i guess i learn something every now and then.
