Refurbishing some salvage monitors today from a local PC repair shop.
This TTX monitor when powered up, I can hear the rush of high
voltage, then the discharge immediately indicating shut down.Vertical and
other voltages remain. I tested all scan caps, within tolerances.( If I
soldered a scan cap from HOT collector to ground as a test to swamp the
HV, HV stays up, but black display.)
FIX turned out to be to scrape the brown glue glob from the point where
the G2 screen soldered to the CRT board. The glue was all over the
wire, resistor, 1KV cap, etc. Now unit stays on with good display. Well, I
usually can get between $50.00-60.00 for these all day long, because my
customers would rather pay me that, than buy a new $250.00-400.00 LCD.
