I'm not familiar with laptop repair, but it is possible, with the opening and
closing of the screen, the ribbon cable may have gone bad

Problem- LCD screen works but not bright. Screen is Hitachi- made

Can we replace the "lamp" part of the screen (if we can get it!!)?
Also, there is an inverter board which connects to LCD 'lamp'. Service
manuals give no voltages- not sure of function of board - anyone know??
LCD available from Sony - $500.
