My first thoughts would be that some magnetic material has adhered or embedded itself in one side. Have you tried different tapes, and the line is still there? If so, it may very well be the video heads are the culprit. You should drag out your trusty video head tester and test them? ASTI #550 is the replacement for those, they're about $26.00 dollars plus s/h... When playing tapes a quarter down the screen a line appears. It happens on SP and SLP. The line does not move when aligning the guide posts, and is also present in pause and FF & Rew search. I cleaned the unit's heads and tape path, but no effect. > Thanks in advance for any suggestions > Gavin Baker c/o Frazer TV & Electronics Repair Inc. > > ------------------------------------------ > Make your TechAssist database better! > Submit Repair Tips here: http://www.tech-assist.org/secure/tip/ > ------------------------------------------ > To UNSUBSCRIBE your email address, click here: > mailto:techassist-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe > Or send a BLANK email with unsubscribe in the > SUBJECT field to the address above. ------------------------------------------ Make your TechAssist database better!
