Yup...that's an old "classic". If you're stuck for OEM part...NTE558 0r NTE580 should get you by. R587....just make sure it's 2 Watt and Flame proof. -Ed- -----Original Message----- From: techassist-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:techassist-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Gemini Computer & TV Sent: Thursday, June 09, 2005 5:51 AM To: techassist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [TechAssist] Re: Sony KV-27TS30, why would R587 open? Wow, I haven't seen one of these in quite a while. It was a very common problem before and I used to carry at least 6 pairs of the parts on the truck. You should also replace D518 (1000 volt G2 source diode) as well as R587. Here is the parts info: D518 was part # 8-719-300-65 but is now replaced by part # 8-719-976-64 (RGP02-17). R587 (1.8K, 1 watt), Sony part # 1-216-434-11 Bob Waterman, CETR #RI-28 Master Technician License #9109 Service Manager / Parts Manager Gemini Computer, TV, & Security Alarms (508)695-7302 (508)695-7769 FAX geminitv@xxxxxxxxxxx ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kevin's TV Repair" <kevintv@xxxxxxx> To: <techassist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, June 09, 2005 1:55 AM Subject: [TechAssist] Sony KV-27TS30, why would R587 open? Set came in with dark, red picture. Picture tube tested good with my B&K. I then found only 178 volts at G2. I traced G2 (1000 volt line) back to an open, "browned" R587, a 1.8K 1 watt resistor. I was wondering if it was a common fault for this resistor to turn brown in the center and go open, or is the fly back or picture tube at fault? Thanks.
