Look at the slider chassis hold-down screw in the lower left corner. If the flange is under the chassis, that is your problem. You can fix that without taking anything out other than the cover hinge pin. There is a screw at the end of the hinge pin near the camera head. Take that out. There is a slot cut in the center of the hinge pin so that you can push it out through the screwhole. Then you can take the front cover off, still connected through the mike cable, but this gives sufficient access to take care of the problem. I have had some real bargains buying those camcorders for parts from servicers who broke the front cover off because they could not figure out how to get the hinge pin out. The only other problem I have seen like that was because the cassette holder was bent and the take-up reel was not engaging the cassette. It looks like the take-up reel is not pulling the tape and it spills out. I don't do many camcorders and need to know if this is going to be a big job.
