Philip, Try this: disconnect the clk/dta/enable lines to the tuner. Just clear solder from pins(make sure they are clean), then try the set. If this is the problem, you will get a slick raster. You may have to turn up the screen to see the display. Ran into one today. I would have sworn it was ac hum from the power supply, but it was the tuner. Who would've thunk it?? I've seen this caused by noise generated in the smps by bad STR30130's,etc. I changed IC601 (STR30130), all four bridge diodes, the main filter C606 (470mfd/200V). Resoldered all over, even jumpered the power relay contacts while happening,no help.(maybe the contacts were arcing).Takes about 5 min to show up.I can turn off, then on the power and it instantly clears for a few minutes. Gotta be AC power supply hum... Phil Bader -- Philip Bader Jan Phyl TV Inc. (estab. 1976) 3420 Recker Hwy.
