Well, I guess the consensus is that H freq parameter is corrupted in the
eeprom, thus needing replacement.

That was more true on the earlier CTC17X chassis due to the "tuner
problem" than the CTC187a series that doesn't seem ro develop that
failure.

My bet is that the EEPROM won't fix this set. Can we start a betting
pool???????? LOL

They are programmed to the center of each range. (most of them anyway)
you
have to adjust to your correct parameters.

I tried another EPROM from a CTC177AA2 chassis, it didn't work, but if I
remember correctly that TV had a system control problem at the time,
probably the EPROM....LOL.

I'm sure I'll find one. If anyone has a known good EPROM to send my way,
don't be shy. BTW are these things preprogrammed?

I don't have Chipper Checker but I will get my hands on another good
EPROM. Do you know where I can get a pre-programmed EPROM? In Canada,
near Ontario would be nice.

If the data never stops after AC plug in the EEPROM is defective. The

OK, just got back to this dog today.
I have (5V) data activity on pins 5 and 6 of EPROM. Data is always
active, it never stops after AC plug-in, and this may indicate a bad
EPROM. Also I'm not too sure about U3101-5 (KD1 pin), schematic says
voltage should be 0V; I'm reading 5V off the pin (disconnected from the
PCB). I can see how the panel button matrix works for CH UP, CH DN and
MENU but I can't make sense of POWER, VOL UP and VOL DN. How does
U3101-5 (KD1 pin) work for those buttons that don't seem to work?
Perhaps I have two problems here.

Looking for input on this as I've never done a system control problem
before.
Thanks techs,

look for +5 volts on pins 5 and 6 of eeprom if not there or low, replace
it
if ok at pin 8. If +5 ok all pins look for data momentarily on pin 5
while
applying ac power

Hey Gang,

I need a troubleshooting chart for this TV, a schematic would also be
appreciated, any tips out there? Fuse and HOT good, SMPS fires up when
TV is plugged in. I use to have lots of information on the CTC187 before
my other computer crashed. What did I learn, back things up on to CD!
Thanks,
