I have had good results using a 2SD1427, it is the exact same case type. 
  The important theing is to replace the caps, especially C08, and check 
all over there for bad connections.  The transistor should not run too 
hot, not more than 145 degree F. I do not think NTE as that case type. 
BTW, that transistor for the TX82 is 198794 and the same transistor is 
in the CTC136 as a 177791.   John.
