Jeff, the newer 2.2 caps are physically smaller than the original and you are correct about putting in 105 celsius caps not the 85`s, I have seen the 2.2uf cap cause the 169`s to fail all by themselves (usually very high esr) but I generally replace all 3 caps in the switch mode. CR4118 (and it`s filter, C4145 1000uf @ 35 volts) should also be changed on any 169 you service, it can cause all kinds of weird problems, ie, dead set, no color, intermittent shutdown, and more. If your standby supply`s are good and your regulated run voltage is 143-145v`s I would ship it out the door, hope this answers your question, Larry E Larry Eastman American TV & Electronics Crystal River, Fl. 34428 352-795-0124 www.tvjunkyard.com Intrepid Video Support wrote: > The only thing I can find bad on this is C4102(?) the 2.2 cap. > First, is it OK to use any 105 degree cap, even though it is much smaller? > Second, For reliability, should I also replace the rest of the parts in this > regulator circuit and the > chopper? > This set was in another shop about a year ago for a new HOT. > I have not seen one of these where just one cap caused dead symptom.. > Customer stated, before it died, the power button would have no effect, but > the volume buttons, channel > buttons and menu would all have erratic functions, some times turning the set > on/off, or sending the wrong > command. > They don't have the remote for this, so only symptom is from pressing the > buttons on the front control. > The front controls seem to be working for me. > This is a weird one...anything I should do before delivering this set, with > the REG circuit or front > controls? > Thank you. > > Jeff Dougherty > Intrepid Video TV/VCR > 263 S Front St > Steelton PA 17113 > ph..717-939-7708 fax...717-564-4952 > www.intrepid-video.com www.tech-repair.net > > ***************************************************************************** > CHECK OUT THE NEW CHATROOM!
