I've changed that varicap with one from another set that also had no color and voila, color came back to both sets.(If you have an old one laying around, try it) I also would just turn the screw back and forth a bunch of times and it would also return. Although I've never tried it, one tech told me to spray a bit of tuner cleaner on the screw, and then turning it back and forth would work.
