[TechAssist] RCA CTC177 chassis - foam behind push buttons

I have a CTC177 chassis which the push buttons were sticking so I
removed the foam behind them. Can I simply leave it like that or should
I find some similar foam to replace with?
Thanks to all the replies concerning the CTC169 chassis I am working on.
Will have to wait a day or two to get back to it.
