Phil,
Won't spend over a few hundred bucks. What does that mean? $200, no
way. $300, maybe. I don't rip anybody off, but I can't do a PTV for
$200 that old and stand the liability of a callback. On a 22+-year old
TV, my advise is to bail now. You could fix the problem, but find many
others. The customer may say "The pix was better before," even if the
vertical problem you fixed had no relation to the weak crt's. Anything
over 15 years, on a PTV, I would advise replacement of the TV. That's
just me. If you have little work, it may be worth the chance. Old sets
just present a greater liability.
