Seems to me you can run that set with the memory IC removed. Try
that..to decide if you actually have a bad IC.

Subject: [TechAssist] Philips 27Y1 and 27Z1 Chassis Memory IC

I have 2 27" sets in the shop, one with the Y1 and one with the Z1
chassis. Both sets had the shifted on screen display problem (bad
memory IC) all other functions associated with the memory IC worked
properly. After replacing the IC the set will no longer auto program
(it leaves all 125 channels in memory) nor can you manually program the
set. Tried a new micro but same results. Called tech support, they
said must have a couple of bad Memory IC's, I had to agree since the old
ones would do these functions normally. Since I have tried 5 new memory
IC's from 3 different suppliers with the same results. Has anyone else
had any problems with these memory IC's lately? Part number
483520988108. Also if anyone has one or two of these on the shelf that
is in the old white packaging from philips I would be interested in
purchasing them. I would even try a used one if anyone has one.
TIA
