Dead. HOT shorted. Removed HOT Q551 (D1556), powered up with about +140VDC at collector trace. Also found shorted D552 (# RH3F loc.in fly area) and associated 10 ohm/2W resistor R764 open. Replaced diode,HOT, resistor. To eliminate possibility of shorted CRT, I unplugged CRT board, and removed anode wire which I inserted in a glass along with my HV probe. Powered it on, with a burst of about 25KV anode voltage then shut off again.Just a click now. D552 shorted again. I do not have an OEM diode but used some heavy ,fast, 1 KV subs.D552 should be rated at about 1500V @2.5A according to web. Twice it shorted. D552 goes directly to yoke. I rand yoke H windings: good. My HOT is still OK. Need input here. Phil Bader -- Philip Bader Jan Phyl TV Inc. (estab. 1976) 3420 Recker Hwy.
