Repaired an AG-B6-P that had lots of pcb cracks and noticed it was outputting 17 volts to a charged battery on the external battery connector. Have a used AG-B6HP that I bought to replace one that was smashed beyond repair and checked it and it was also outputting 17 volts to the battery. Found another AG-B6HP in the case of a camcorder in for repair and it also outputs 17 volts to the battery. Tried several batteries - no difference. Hooked the batteries up to a GE 1CVA405 charger and get 14.5 volts - what I was expecting! Service manual says charger should switch to trickle charge when battery gets to 15.5 volts. Are all those AG-B6s defective or am I missing something? I wouldnt think it was an adjustment problem unless the pots are bad.
