I wonder how the component video would look look, compare to composite....I
had one of those sitting on my bench in '83, along with a 2H /2V display,
and a Hitachi 60mhz dual time base scope...and insurance, a 2 week vacation,
1 week sick, uniforms.....I miss those...40 hour work week....(sniff) :-{

| if you had a tv where you could find the demodulated R-Y and B-Y (shifted
by 90 degrees) and put them to a scope for XY display, you would get the
desired pattern. Those signals do not exist in that form in all tvs or video
cameras. My box took the composite video, seperated out the chroma,
demodulated the R-Y and 90 degree phase shifted B-Y, equalized the
amplitude, added the burst back in as a reference, and had pots that scaled
both outputs and rotated the pattern so that the burst could be adjusted to
a horizontal position. then you could compare the resulting pattern to that
shown in the service manual for adjustment.
