Subject: [TechAssist] JVC GR-AX25U Camcorder- Intermittant Capstan & E03 error

I am working on a JVC Camcorder Model# GR-AX25U. When you insert the tape it
loads. If you press play it will sit there a second and an E03 error code
comes up on the EVF. If you remove the battery and reinstall it the tape guides
unload but the tape doesn't pull back into cassette. If you push FF & RW enough
the capstan motor will finally turn and it will fast forward & rewind. Then if
you press play it may play or not. If you press eject it usually ejects with
the tape still hanging out. The capstan motor seems to be intermittent. The
motor shaft is very free so bearings are OK. has anyone had any similar
problems?
TIA,
Dale
