[TechAssist] JVC DVD XV-S65GD, just says loading.....

The laser lights up, lens bounces up and down and it spins if a disc is in
when turned on but the message "LOADING" remains in the display and it will
not do anything else. I ordered a service manual but there is no schematic.
Tried test mode and the first display looks right but then nothing works.
Any tips or knowledge on this one?
