Hi fellow techs,
Hope your day is going better than mine! I am repairing this Hitachi
PTV that will play fine for hours and then goes to a faint pix with
white retrace lines about 4" apart. Then the set arcs and shuts down.
Two of the three guns already have small but noticeable marks in the
center of each picture tube from this arcing. I have found no obvious
bad solder joints, but banging the side does fix it sometimes. The
customer refuses to let me just solder the hor and P/S circuits as I
believe the problem lies therein. The customer wants me to "measure"
stuff and fix it that way! He also wants the set fixed in his home. By
measuring stuff when it is 'broken', I risk damaging the tubes more.
