I have been working on a Sony ModelKV35S42 for over a month. Basically
what happens is when you turn unit on it comes up for several seconds
then you hear a loud snap. Then you find the Q502 H.output shorted,
either damper diode D502 or D503 shorted, power supply IC 601 shorted
and R607 open. I then replaced T503 flyback, Q502, IC601, D502, D503,
D504, C511 & C513. After replacing these parts I checked the flybacks
pulse width & load with my Sencore and it was perfect. I then fired it
up again and it snapped and shorted all the same parts again. I talked
to Sony about it and they suggested I replace the shorted parts and
slowly bring up the line voltage while monitoring the flyback pulse,
B+ & HV. everything looks perfect until the B+ gets to about 110V,
then the trailing edge of the pulse starts to distort where it
contacts the base line and the HV starts going down a bit while the
H.Output starts getting hot. I did change the T501 H Driver
transformer, Q501 H. Driver & C502 in Q501's base circuit. I still
have the same problems with the pulse distorting & the H.Output
getting hot. I have checked every part in the H.output stage, H.Driver
stage & Pincushion stage.

I was wondering if anyone possibly has a chassis AA-2D out of one of
the following models, KV-32S42, KV-32S66, KV-32V42, KV-35S42, KV-35S66
or KV-35V42.

The number on the original flyback is 8-598-809-00 which should help
to identify the right chassis version.

TIA,
Dale
