Thanks to the replies I received regarding this. I replaced the original HOT 2SC5148 (237470, which does not have built in damper) with original RCA BUH517 (223942). Also replaced power supply transistors Q14101 with an IRF840 and Q14102 with an MPSA56 surface mount, plus R14103 43 Ohm resistor and fuse. I removed L14401 and scraped the leads, retinned and reinstalled. The set has run great for 12 hours straight with HOT heatsink temp at 46 deg. C and power supply heatsink at 37 deg. C.
