Sure sounds like a stripped gear..
Check the round gear that loads the carriage.
If this is OK, then probably the worm gear that connects to the load motor is
separated from the base that
sits on the motor shaft...hard to explain, but you need to glue these two
pieces together...or the piece
that fits onto the motor shaft is cracked and needs glued to the shaft, usually
detected when you hear the
motor shaft spinning inside the plastic

Unit came in with a no load symptom. Replaced loading belt and mode switch,
still have a similar problem.
Unit takes tape all the way in but does not start to load tape path, instead
ejects tape. Have inspected
all loading gears for stripped/missing teeth, mechanical timing appears to be
correct based on marks in
the chassis and gears. I still suspect some sort of timing issue but have no
alignment manual. If anyone
has a mechanical manual for this unit or any suggestions it would be greatly
appreciated. TIA.
