Art I haven't got a schematic for this set that I am aware of and don't know if this might be a solution but a number of years ago we had problems with Tosh TV's that would have strange symptoms that would make you believe that there was a fault with the CPU. We found that the problems were caused by a number of .01 disc caps that either had heated up and gone leaky or had small cracks in their cases allowing a bit of moisture to enter. These caps were invariably on data lines and caused numerous strange symptoms. We also observed that after running a while, the = on screen display would break up into "hash", sprayed across the screen, = and sometimes the sound would go all the way up. When the sound would go = wild, we would loose control of the set through the front buttons until the = set was unplugged or cooled down. I replaced the microprocessor and it ran for three days only. My father = has been heating and cooling (and replacing) other parts in the micro area, = such as the eprom and the combo filter chip. Still, heating and cooling = almost anything in that area causes the problems to come and go. I discovered that heating and cooling from the bottom of the board also affects things, but I haven't been able to isolate it to a single part. Everything has been resoldered. There are not any glue deposits under = there that we can see. Has anyone experienced this with one of these before?
