Pete,

I've read information about ballast lamps going bad.
The one I'm servicing has a good picture for less than
2 seconds then blinks off. Same symptoms when I inject
a signal from computer vga connector.

I've not yet torn too far into it, year of manufacture
is 2003. Man, these things go bad fast!

Hello there -Dont know your name, but mine shuts down
too fast to tell.To answer your question, the flouro
tubes age & draw too much current causing shutdown @
convertor ps.
So,with that,maybe isolate tubes,scope the waveforms
etc.Highest failures I see are the tubes, bad sm
electrolytics all over the place[main bd/convertor]
FYI Site bylaws dictate you have a sigfile.I didn't
even know what that was when I joined.Everyone is
pretty helpful here.Regards,
Pete

Pete,

I have a similar problem with a DELL 17" LCD in for
service. Does this Compaq you're working on also show
OSD or self test mode?

I wonder if these units develop backlight problems
prematurely. My experience is that HP will not sell
service literature on their monitors.

Comes on then blinks right out.Scoped anodes of the Hi
V xfmr drivers and saw great swings but just hash. HP
doesn't address the Hi V ps on the parts site.Anyone
know where I can find one.Anyone worked on this guy?
